WRITING PRACTICE
Alongside a formal academic publication record, Hunter's writing practice spans early feminist self-publishing since the late 1990s, experimental and poetic text, manifesto writing, creative video subtitling, bureaucratic document tweaking, and text embedded in textile forms. Writing is interwoven throughout her work as both critical and creative method to develop concepts, articulate positions, highlight biopolitics, and extend material and embodied practices into language.
From zines to text-based components of visual art projects, creative protocol tinkering, spell casting, and blog philosophizing, writing is active experimentation alongside making, performance, and pedagogy. Public readings have been a foundation and extension of her performance practice, as activism and community engagement.
