1998-PRESENT

Since the late 1990s, WhiteFeather has been active in independent publishing, literary arts, and feminist cultural production. Through poetry chapbooks, collaborative anthologies, illustrations, zines, editorial projects, and contributions to independent press publications, she has helped build alternative literary infrastructures that amplify marginalized voices and community-based creative practices. Many early projects were published through Goddess Bless Press, her independent publishing imprint.

A widely published poet across Atlantic Canada and beyond, WhiteFeather performed regularly at spoken word events, poetry festivals, literary gatherings, and live broadcasts for CBC Radio. She apprenticed under poet and publisher Joe Blades of Broken Jaw Press, one of Canada's pioneering independent literary presses, and later served as guest editor for several of his anthologies.

Many themes that would later define her bioart and research-creation practice first emerged through poetry, including menstruation, the clitoris, sexuality, pleasure, sexual assault, folklore, and witchcraft. These works laid an early foundation for her later investigations into feminist biotechnology, menstrual materiality, and embodied knowledge systems.

Several publications from this period are now held in institutional collections, including the Simon Fraser University Library, the New Brunswick Provincial Archives, and Library and Archives Canada, contributing to the preservation of independent feminist print culture and artist-led publishing histories.

WhiteFeather continues to publish through artist books, exhibition catalogues, feminist publishing initiatives, and independent presses, including the Bioart Coven Manifesto, published by Snake Hair Press. Her contemporary publishing practice also includes Frantic Panties, a feminist Substack that extends the DIY publishing ethos of her earlier independent Goddess Bless Press into the digital sphere through essays, memoir, cultural critique, and artist writing. Together, these works reflect a decades-long commitment to alternative knowledge production, cultural exchange, community formation, and the creation of platforms for voices and ideas that exist beyond conventional institutional frameworks.
