WRITING PRACTICE
Alongside a formal academic publication record, Hunter's writing practice spans early feminist self-publishing, experimental and poetic text, manifesto writing, creative video subtitling, bureaucratic document tweaking, and text embedded in textile forms. Writing is interwoven throughout her work as both critical and creative method to develop concepts, articulate positions, highlight biopolitics, and extend material and embodied practices into language.
From zines to text-based components of visual art projects, creative protocol tinkering, spell casting, and blog philosophizing, writing is active experimentation alongside making, performance, and pedagogy. Public readings have been a foundation and extension of her performance practice, as activism and community engagement.
The resources collected here reflect the many forms writing takes within Hunter's practice, from artist books and scholarly publications to lectures, teaching materials, experimental protocols, and research outputs. Together, they document an ongoing engagement with writing as a mode of inquiry, world-building, knowledge sharing, and creative experimentation.

Text in Practice
Text in WhiteFeather's work extends beyond the page, encrypting visual, performative, and computational contexts as an active material and structuring force. Through subtitling, embedded language, scripts, procedural writing, and bureaucratic documents, text functions as both interface and instruction, activating the experience. Ranging from anecdotal fragments to directive protocols and administrative forms, language is used to imprint perception, organize systems, and mediate relations between bodies, materials, and environments.
Early Feminist Publishing
These early works engage feminist self-publishing and poetry as electric avenues for voice, resistance, and incantation. Produced outside institutional frameworks, the writing is confessional, ribald, erotic, and unapologetic, confronting embodiment, sexuality, identity, and power through uncensored expression. Circulating through zines, chapbooks, and independently distributed texts, self-publishing is a practice of autonomy and self-definition, laying the groundwork for later work in ritual, performance, and technoscience.
