Micro-rituals & Erotic Encounters

2011-2018

In these works, performance unfolds through intimate, often ephemeral actions. Through live interventions, staged gestures, and video-based works, they approach erotic experience as a mode of knowledge production and relational exchange. Drawing on ritual structures and feminist approaches to embodiment, these works mobilize taboo materials and topics to unsettle normative boundaries around intimacy, sexuality, and the body.

SALIVAM

Salivam is a twin performance video installation presented as part of the larger Salivam body of work. The videos adopt the aesthetic of clinical testing, with the artist in a lab coat conducting speculative “trials” with an anti-aging cream incorporating proteolytic enzymes derived from her own saliva. In one video, the cream is tested on the artist’s skin; in the other, the artist performs a sustained act of licking another woman’s face.

MILF

MILF was presented as a floor-based interactive work at Foufounes Électriques during the Montreal Erotic Art Festival. Spectators were confronted with a choice upon entry: to walk on the image or not. The work engages the sexualization of maternal bodies as a site of projection and contestation. An accompanying black leather jacket spray-painted with the word “MYLF,” was worn anonymously by the artist at the event, reversing the terms of address and shifting the figure from object to agent.

ALCHEMATRIX

Alchematrix is a series of self-portrait performances, rendered as looping GIF animations within a built decrepit and graffitied dollhouse. The artist’s body is covered in gold leaf, enacting gestures that oscillate between seduction and madness. Working through alchemical frameworks, the body becomes both medium and site of conversion, where material, symbolic, and erotic transformations unfold through repetitive action.

FIXATION STATION

Fixation Station was performed in the storefront window of Owl’s Nest Bookstore in New Brunswick, as part of the Hoot & Peep Mini Performance Festival. Developed in dialogue with Nathalie Daoust’s Tokyo Hotel Story at Gallery Connexion, the work unfolds as a sequence of repetitive oral actions staged for public view. In an adjacent window, a monitor displays text pieces about memories of oral fixation, extending the silent performance into language and recollection.
